[SC2-GSL Season 2: Code S] INnoVation: “This year, I have lost every match against Protoss. I think it’s because I’m not paying attention to my minimap, as well as Protoss [as a race] being good.”

Group A matches of GSL Season 2: Code S has concluded with Lee “INnoVation” Shin Hyung as the second player to advance to Ro16. After his 0-2 loss to Jo “Patience” Ji Hyun, INnoVation was quick to rebound, eventually taking down 4-time consecutive GSL winner Cho “Maru” Seong Ju to eliminate the current defending champion from Code S.

INnoVation has been interviewed by AfreecaTV following the matches.

We will be meeting with the player that had put a stop to Maru’s rampage, INnoVation. It must have left quite an impression having stopped Maru’s streak. Tell us how you feel having confirmed your spot in Ro16.

INnoVation: Truthfully, since Maru is really good, I didn’t think I would be able to get this far, so I think I’m lucky in that regards.

Even though you have a winning record against him, it must have been quite pressuring, with two defending champions facing off against one other in the Final Match of the Group.

INnoVation: Yes, a bit since Maru is really good. I thought both Maru and I would be able to get out of Groups together, but Patience played better than expected.

Though you displayed great prowess in your TvT matches, your TvP has been a bit disappointing. Dealing with Protoss all-ins must have been tough.

INnoVation: This year, I have lost every match against Protoss. I think it’s because I’m not paying attention to my minimap, as well as Protoss [as a race] being good.

For both of your TvP games, you opted to go for a mech build. Are you still experimenting with mech builds?

INnoVation: I played just mech in my practices, and in that environment, it feels pretty good, and I get good winrate with it. However, when I bring it out in tournaments, I get nervous and make a lot of mistakes.

In your second game against Patience, in the Automaton map, why did you bring those tanks down?

INnoVation: People tell me if I didn’t bring it down, I could have won. However, even if I didn’t, I thought was done for that game.

Last time, you were eliminated in Ro16 of GSL Super Tournament. Will we be able to expect better results from you?

INnoVation: If you do, I would be thankful. For now, I would like to rest.

Do you have any last words for the fans?

INnoVation: Not a lot of people would have expected my victory today. Even now, I am in a state of disbelief. Instead of getting eliminated once again in Ro16, I would like to advance further to Ro8 and beyond.
