Kingzone Deft rates Sona at the current meta: “Sona has healing, crowd control and damage. I think she needs to get nerfed.”

After Kingzone DragonX defeated SANDBOX Gaming at the 2019 LCK summer split, the press room interviewed the team’s AD carry Kim “Deft” Hyeok-kyu.

Hello Deft, congratulations on your second win of the summer split. Can you tell us how you are feeling?

The team faced difficulty in the early game at both game one and two. Despite that, we were able to win the match 2-0, which I am happy about.

In both games, Kingzone seems to have made a comeback victory.

Since we picked champions that didn’t have lane priority early on, as long we weren’t too behind we were okay.

Was there any assurance that your composition will scale well given time?

In scrims and in Solo Qm, I scale well with Sona. As long as Sona doesn’t get blown up she performs very well in-game, she wins. So, as long I wasn’t too behind on Sona, as long as I get to teamfight phase I thought we could win no matter what.

You showed good performance on Sivir, as well as on an unconventional pick in Sona.

While I think I did well in the second game, in the first game I made mistakes in the teamfight so I don’t think I played that well.

With Sona, you recorded 1st in the damage chart of the second game.

I usually get the highest place in the damage chart when I play her in the Korean solo ladder as well. Sona has healing, crowd control and damage. I think she needs to get nerfed. When I play as an AD carry against her, I get so stressed. Even when I put Sona behind to a ridiculous degree there are games where I just lose anyway. When I play Sona it’s great, but when I’m playing against it it’s very frustrating.

People are observing that Kingzone has a similar playstyle to the LEC.

Even back in spring we always favored looking for good angles and initiating fights around it. Today, you could see a number of mistakes layered throughout the series, so we will have to try harder.

In that case, how would you define the playstyle does Kingzone DragonX.

I don’t know what kind of playstyle we have, exactly. However, since all five of us play a lot of Solo Q, we tend to study up on OP champions and utilize them well.

Your next opponent is SKT. What do you feel about it?

They are an opponent that we were unable to beat even once in the spring split. One of our first goals for Summer was finally defeating them, but looking at today’s match, and the mistakes we made, I think it will be a tough series if we don’t work on the issues we exhibited.

Rascal has been performing to a higher level compared to the spring split. What is different from the last split?

Well, he is playing better, but there is also the fact that in the spring split, he was expected to withstand pressure, while right now, the top side being put on carry role allow a higher chance of victory.

Thank you for the interview. Do you have anything you’d like to add to the interview?

We want to show that we have gotten better from the spring split. All of us are trying their best so please watch over us until the end. Thank you.
